St Cuthbert’s Way Pilgrimage

Day Four - Morebattle to Kirk Yetholm

(Approx 6 miles)

Good to pause from time to time to catch one’s breath

and take in the awesome beauty of God’s creation.

Yes, this is it! The halfway point!

From Morebattle, we walked along a road called Sibbald’s Path, and then across Kale Water via a footbridge.

The higher you go, the more breathtaking the views!

We heard quite a few skylarks  up in the hills but saw very little other wildlife other than this ladybird sheltering from the wind under the steps of a  style we climbed over.

This is just before it becomes excitingly steep! I wouldn’t like to tackle this bit in the rain.

After the bleakness and wind on the top of the hills, coming down into the valley felt warm and lusciously verdant.

We rested our weary feet by Bowmont Water and shared a flask of tea.

It had been a hard day of walking, but finally we arrived at beautiful Kirk Yetholm
