Come and visit Wooler URC Outdoor Labyrinth…

We are delighted to have a permanent outdoor Labyrinth installed in the car park behind Wooler United Reformed Church on Cheviot Street.

The Labyrinth is everyone to use and is open to all. We hope that you might be able to come and see it while coming through Wooler as you complete St Cuthbert’s Way.

Fliss Barker, our Community Minister would be very pleased to lead reflections and guided meditations for groups who would like to use it.

Please do contact her using our Contact Us page on the website.

What is a Labyrinth?

An outdoor labyrinth is a single path that you can follow. Unlike a maze, it has no dead ends or wrong turns. You can’t get lost! You simply follow the winding trail into the center, pause for reflection, and retrace your exact steps back out.

Labyrinth walking can be used as a meditation practice, and some believe walking on the path represents the journey to the inner self.

The goal is to move slowly without having a specific destination in mind as you follow along the twists and turns of the path. Mindful walking helps us stay focused in the present moment by tuning in to our body's sensations, which can help reduce stress.

Words to ponder on the Journey

Be still and KNOW that I am God.

There is a space within all of us, a quiet place reserved for God. Here we can listen to his voice, receive his love and bask in his presence.

Go to this place now, Rest, relax and enjoy.

Nothing in all creation is so like God as stillness. Meister Eckhart
